Unicorn on guard

15th January 2016

About this memory

The unicorn (Scotland's national heraldic symbol) is one of two sculptures created by Phillis Bone at the entrance of the magnificent and evocative Scottish National War Memorial situated in Edinburgh Castle. The other is a lion. Created 1924-27. Together they mark a simple and respectful threshold to a building which pays tribute to those fallen in war, human and animal.
