With its central position along the west part of Princes Street, between the Mound and the West End, the monument to the Royal Scots Greys is a popular photographic attraction in the city centre.
It was erected to commemorate the soldiers of the regiment who died in the Anglo-Boer war of 1899 to 1902, with plaques added to commemorate those who died in the 1st and 2nd World Wars and subsequent conflicts
