School Sports Day 1955

About this memory

This Annual Event was looked forward to only by those who enjoyed athletics, of which I was not one.
Teachers of the time paid more attention to athletic prowess than academic.
To involve everyone, serious racing and jumping was interspersed with Three - Legged and Egg and Spoon races.
Often used as trials for inclusion in School teams.
No fancy athletic gear was used so pupils usually raced in normal clothes wearing Pumps, Rubbers or Plimsoles.
