Class Portrait Donaldson's School For The Deaf c.1905

About this memory

David Scott (back row, fourth left).

"My grandfather, David Scott (my mum's dad), was deaf but I recently discovered that was not why he was a pupil at Donaldson's. We think he lost his hearing in World War One. I searched through the school archives at the National Library of Scotland and found the admissions book. He was taken as a poverty case and was there until he enlisted in 1914." - Liz Marshall [2016]
