I went to the Dean Primary School from 1955 and I remember crying when I went to School on my first day.

About this memory

Understandably, as there were no nurseries about, for us to go to, not like today.

The only teacher I remember is Miss Edmonds the Headmistress.

I remember having to read the story of Greyfriars Bobby and couldn't read it for crying, as I found it sad because I loved animals.

When the school closed in 1961 due to falling pupil numbers. I then went to Flora Stevenson's Primary School at the foot of Orchard Brae.
